Who starts learning to be a software engineer at 60?

I do. Seriously.

Well, I did. It's been a couple years now.

And on one of the biggest software projects in the world—WordPress—where I'm one of two Core team reps for 2022 and, possibly, beyond. My counterpart in the role publishes a post called A Week in Core on most Mondays; a friend of mine and I run the weekly Wednesday developers' chat.

I also do a little editing on the People of WordPress blog, and my friend and I are on the editorial board of a new WordPress developers' blog.

Outside the Core team, I've been dabbling a bit in the design of surface patterns and have been thinking about what logoed merchandise the WordPress community might buy beyond the basics in the swag store.

That's because I might be a copywriter/editor by temperament, but I'm a designer by training. And I do need to do something visual most days, just to keep my head on straight.
