A few things as I'm reading back through the repo and still recovering from mainnet launch 🚀

The SIPs from stacks-blockchain officially live in stacksgov now 🎉

  • the issues and pull requests are the starting point for community-initiated SIPs
  • the most recent effort is around a FT and NFT standard

Several community miners have come together to discuss how things are going now, and how things will move along in the future, including possible SIP submissions.

How can this working group help them with their progress?

The notes below are from the Stacks Ecosystem call this morning, where I gave a brief update about our group and recent developments.

Code of Conduct (Juliet)

#119 (comment)
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1eYJhrZhmqt9RcTJ-PkzRlzgt0Yl1d2tgjDj24SN2Mfs/edit
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1e0bgdpHfhdc5LYIaW1koyFtlFAGpw0LN8qjgZez0zl0/edit

  • Juliet summarized her research and shared links to the project overview and RFC draft
  • looking at both a CoC for the Stacks ecosystem, and the bigger question of relevance
  • things like: how does it impact the community, and why is it important?
  • these are all open to public input and work will be done in the shared docs from here forward
  • the project covers 5 key questions:
  1. How might the principal of Can’t Be Evil play a role in a code of conduct for the Stacks community?
  2. What are the values of the Stacks ecosystem?
  3. What Best Practices contribute to a Can’t Be Evil stacks ecosystem?
  4. How might a code of conduct encourage developers to create tools and applications with respect for strict privacy preserving practices?
  5. How might a code of conduct encourage investors to engage in behaviors that help grow the Stacks ecosystem?
  • if interested, get involved!

Voting Mechanism (Harold)

#119 (comment)
https://sourcecred.io/docs/

  • demo of SourceCred integration with GitHub and Discord
  • ability to fine-tune different weights for earning cred and grain
  • still in early stages, but in the end will be used to ratify CoC

Two Row Wampum (TRW) STEAM (Harold)

#125 (comment)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAmmwo6hF9o&feature=youtu.be

  • successful meeting with Ron Eglash and the TRW Longhouse
  • using ancient protocols for social organization to incorporate into ideas
  • split into two main work streams, highlighted in the recent update
    • STEAM & Indigenous Modes
    • Proof of Access (PoA) Design
  • breaking out of conventional perspectives
  • focus on collaboration for STEAM and digital fabrication efforts

Stacksgov GitHub Organization Cleanup (Jason)

stacksgov/grants-program#30
stacksgov/resources#50

  • M1 completed two weeks ago, mainly bug fixes for the docsify website
  • docsify is a javscript tool that takes our repo content and turns it into a website
  • also covered some branding updates, forum link updates, and new issue templates
    • now creating an agenda or adding an agenda item is very easy!
  • M2 is next, which will be centered around updating call content
  • also starting to close issues and open to feedback at any point

Community Board Seat

#66

  • recent activity from Sean Gonzalez, Dan Trevino, and Juliet Oberding
  • foundation is supportive, but hands off in terms of the who and how to make sure it is community owned
  • it'd be great to see a proposal or grant application to do the research to create the proposal

Grants Migration

https://grants.stacks.org/

The stacks grants program officially migrated to the new platform powered by grant.io

  • milestones, discussion, and updates will happen here instead of github
  • grants filed on github will remain there until complete
  • registration requires creating an account with an email address
  • github will now be the location for Grants Program Feedback
    • issue templates are updated and an issue label created
