Sidebar default state when playing videos

It would be nice to have a setting in the interface options where you can change the default state of the left sidebar. Currently it's always displayed, but you can collapse it with that button on the left side of the video player. An option to have the side bar collapsed by default, so the video player takes more space on the screen would be awesome. Should be easy to implement that setting, since there's already a button that offers that functionality, so the code is already there.
That could probably already be solved with custom Javascript, but I don't know how to do it.
