constant network traffic

I noticed a steady network activity in Windows Task Manager. When i closed SumatraPDF the traffic went to zero. Why ist that?

SumatraPDF will check for updates and if necessary download debugging info but should not intentionally be keeping channels open unless the files are network based say in a cloud backed sync folder.

I wonder if the newer help system may also be linking back to the main site for documentation?

currently I see no network traffic except the system randomly is renewing browser pages. thus the majority of the time is at zero. on opening and closing installed SumatraPDF there is no noticeable extra activity except it spike if I manually ask if an update is available and it says do you want to update ? once I say no it drops back to zero.

It wasn't from SumatraPDF. We only do an update check. Plus you can configure to completely disable network access https://www.sumatrapdfreader.org/docs/Configure-for-restricted-use
