How can I create stackable bar charts?

When I create a bar chart, I see an option to Stack the values, but it never seems to work. Is there a quick HOWTO guide on how best to create stacking bar charts?

The current configuration method of the chart plugin is rather difficult to understand. We will restructure the chart plugin in the coming weeks to adopt a more user-friendly configuration method.
