Adding Sponsors to the footer of our webpage

Should we add our highest level of sponsor's logos to the bottom of the page in monochromatic tones? Like a whitewashed or yellow-washed logo(with transparency ofc) on a dark blue background at the footer?

That could work, but I wanted to prioritize our brand identity over others
because it will be at the footer of all of our pages.

I feel like it would be better to prioritize strengthening our own design elements rather than sacrificing others' brand identities. For example, we could use blue and yellow border elements, or text that says something like "Special thanks to our sponsors!" following the branding guidelines.

But that's just my opinion... I think it would be pretty easy to try both and see how we like them.

I would be careful with modifying the brand images of other organizations. Even if its just the color. Each organization has its own set of acceptable standards. Some trademark requirements even require you to have a logo only against a specific background color.

Take Mozilla for example:

The word mark is monochromatic and with a transparency. FIRST I know for a
fact has a monochromatic logo. They may require that it be white, but we
can always ask. And monochromatic versions of all of our sponsors logos in
team yellow currently exist on our team shirts.

Aren't all of the sponsors' logos on our shirts? I'm pretty positive that all of them are monochromatic. If we do encounter issues we can always just change it.

Forgot about that. Haha, it's been a while. Perhaps we already have permission to make them yellow then.

With legal details though, my recommendation is to always play it safe. Uploading something potentially problematic and asking for forgiveness later wouldn't be respectful to sponsors. Given the shirts, it's probably fine to monochrome the logos, but I would just run it by coaches quickly.

The t-shirts are kind of an extenuating circumstance because it is easier (and thus cheaper) to screen print one color, so demanding color requirements to be met on them would be pretty unfair.

edit: I agree -- play it safe! And I just don't think making them yellow adds to our branding so much as it just makes the logos not stand out individually for the sake of aesthetics

I love how you phrased that! I think, if we were to add our sponsors, we should use their official color(s) as long as the logos are small enough to not intrude on the overall design of the page.
