Homepage design

Extremely low priority. My eyes get distracted when I visit the home page of the explorer (particularly by the Tempo logo in the nav and blocks of text above the search box). Thought something like this would help direct focus to the search box and make it obvious what the action is. (I'd also hide the search box button or make it less prominent until search input is focused.)

Looks kinda boring, but maybe a grayscale mesh gradient/dot matrix/ascii background with low opacity would fill up the space nicely. Could even do something like we have on the Tempo website, but would make it more transparent.
