Why does the build script still rebuild everything from scratch

From the wiki , it is stated that including -I to the build command will cause the build scrípt to only download the dependencies defined in TERMUX_PKG_DEPENDS, but based on duration taken and logs i have, it looks like this is not the case.
Here is the command i ran:
./scripts/run-docker.sh bash -c "./build-package.sh -I -a arm tesseract"
Am trying to build tesseract but the process is taking too long busy building the dependencies instead of building the actual package. I've encountered errors not related to the tesseract package but building process of the packages it depends on. All i want is to build tesseract and not it's dependencies. Iam using the docker so i don't if there's any other way to install the dependences without building them other than including -I
I know it's taking long and building the dependencies because in termux app installing a package like libicu won't display things like home/builder/.termux-build/libicu/src/source/ in the logs.

Have you tried to git pull new commits in your cloned repository?

I don't think this will solve my problem , pulling in new commits will only update my current repository state. I last updated things like 4 months ago and infact this was already the behaviour when building packages (custom) but with fewer simple dependencies so any delays due to building of dependencies were simply minimal.

It will solve the problem in this case. Old packages are not stored in repository. So, the script is building old packages in your system.
