I tried to run some bash commands in the user_data script but it didn't execute. It's not executed because yum-config-manager and vim are not available after the launch. I also have no idea how to check if the user_data script is executed at launch time or not at all. Need some guidance on this please.

user_data is now deprecated as it's known it's not working. Please follow #150 for updates.

@ProjectJYL - I just posted a potential work-around for the cloud-init issue in #150 that might work for you.
