What advice do you have for someone wanting to work at LinkedIn

This question came from the old anonymous AMA I used to have. In relaunching the AMA concept on GitHub Discussions, I wanted to bring over as many of these as I could

Update 2021 I haven't been at LinkedIn for a long time, but still felt this was a really good answer to bring over.

I don't think these are LinkedIn-specific things, but

1. Make things & solve problems you have. There's no better teacher than experience.
2. Write about stuff, even if to yourself in a personal notebook. Writing helps us remember and solidifies concepts in our mind.
3. Mentally invest in places you want to work. If it's LinkedIn, use the product & have opinions about it. The more you are able to be in the mindset of #1, the more you'll want to solve these problems
4. Keep learning. In the frontend at least, things change yearly monthly daily. You don't need to absorb everything every day, but know that an industry that is volatile (in a good way) means you're going to be non stop learning
