Fixes #1174 .

Avoids OBJECT() as this is no longer C API (producing a NOTE on the latest CRAN checks).

This is a simple replacement with Rf_isObject() as per https://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/r-devel/R-exts.html#Moving-into-C-API-compliance.
