MacOS - Levure launch issue

Can't get out of the gate. I get the above error after creating a new Levure app and hitting the "Open Application" button. I've tried it a number of different times, and always get the same result.

MacOS 15, Livecode 10.0.1

@troyrollins I think this must be the external not having the correct architecture. I'll look into this in the next few days as I know I have a version of the external that works in macOS 15. I don't use LiveCode 10 though.

@troyrollins Will you add a breakpoint to the preferences script and let me know if useMacOSExternal returns true? (see https://github.com/trevordevore/levure/blob/develop/framework/helpers/preferences/preferences.livecodescript#L56C18-L56C34).

The framework should be using the extension, not the external, but it sounds like it is trying to load the external.

Thanks Trevor. Having been away from LC for a while, my debugging skills are not that strong.

The breakpoint you suggested never seems to get hit - but that could be my use of the LC debugger.

Other breakpoints I've placed do get hit, and some basic tracing led me to the code shown in this image. This is where the error message is first being generated.

@troyrollins I dug into the code some more. Looking at https://github.com/trevordevore/levure/blob/develop/framework/helpers/preferences/helper.yml I see that the preferences.bundle external SHOULD NOT be loaded in versions of the LiveCode engine < 9.0.

The code that creates the list of externals to possibly load (the value of sAppA["externals packages to verify"]) is populated in this code: https://github.com/trevordevore/levure/blob/develop/framework/levure.livecodescript#L2295

Can you tell me what the value of sAppA["externals packages to verify"] is when you reach the error you show in the screenshot? If Preferences is in that list then we need to figure out how it is getting there.

There was a bug fix back in 2023 for the engine version check. See #192. You could check to make sure the Levure code you have matches the code in that PR. If you had some older code for some reason then that bug could be causing the problem.

Please don't put yourself out over this issue on my behalf. Since posting it I've determined that Livecode is not the path forward for my current challenge. I'm still interested in resolving it because I'd like it to work, but less pressure. 👍
