[Workflow] Body from Notes are not well shared from one step to another

Bug Description

I created a workflow that has a step "search note" , searching for a note that I use as a template
this is the body of this note

Next action is to create a note, and I use the body > Markdown of the note found above to pre-fill the body of my new note

But here is the note that gets created >> the markdown is "shared" but not well displayed

Then I tried using the Body > Block Note instead of Body > Markdown but here is what we get

I don't see why we should let users access this, which could lead them to a confusion but I might be missing something

Also, this might be happening for Tasks as well, I did not check

Is the issue strictly with Markdown preservation, or does it affect structured blocks too? Trying to see if this is a serialization or rendering problem.

not sure what you mean exactly by "structured blocks" but indeed, there were some line breaks (in my first screenshot, between Attendees, Minutes and Next Steps sections) that do not appear in the second screenshot (how the "markdown" is copied by the workflow).

@StephanieJoly4 this is a really tricky one. Note rich text are expecting texts. Not block note nor markdown format.
Maybe the simplest solution would be to propose 3 modes for rich text body:

• Text => existing one
• Blocknote and markdown => where you will be able to fill the variables

@thomtrp , from a user's perspective, I'd say the needs are

1. to be able to "paste" the text + formatting
2. to not be confused accessing variables (I'm thinking of the block note here) without truly understanding their purpose (it's not clear to me for ex why we let users access the block note)

@StephanieJoly4 @Bonapara I spent some time on the issue today and could not find an easy solution. My issue: notes are a format that not get easily integrated inside another note.

A simple solution would be :

• we remove markdown/blocknote from note variable option. We always select only body. Addresses @StephanieJoly4 2nd point
• if the user wants to use regular text variables inside another note, same behavior as today, which already works
• if the user wants to use a note body as variable, then we propose a second mode so the variable becomes the full body

Is it acceptable? Otherwise I will have a go deeper into this bug
