You only need need the extension: https://github.com/NeverDecaf/chromium-web-store , which was linked in that page, now read the github readme of this extension to use it and set it up, because it doesnt work out of the box.

Go to chrome://flags/#extension-mime-request-handling and change Default to Always prompt for install then restart the browser. This enables clicking on links to install extensions. You still need chromium-web-store to use the Chrome Web Store.

Read that GitHub readme "READ THIS FIRST" section before using the extension.

Also keep in mind that this enables the install to chrome button on chrome web store (sometimes you need to refresh the page), and that this extension doesn't update extensions automatically, user input is required to open the chromium web store extension menu by clicking on it and clicking on extensions through there.
