Feature Request: Support gitee.com as a source platform
Motivation
Add support for downloading templates and git repositories from gitee.com, enabling broader adoption and usability especially for users in China.
About Gitee
Gitee (https://gitee.com) is a major code hosting platform in China, often compared to GitHub. It provides similar functionalities including public/private repositories, issues, wikis, and CI/CD workflows. Gitee has become the go-to choice for Chinese developers due to compliance with local regulations, stable access within mainland China, and native language support. Many Chinese organizations favor Gitee for open source and enterprise projects. According to various industry reports, Gitee hosts millions of repositories and is considered an essential ecosystem for software development in China.
Proposal
