Additional context

Imports of optional dependencies should be prefaced with @ts-ignore so consumers don't have to use skipLibCheck and potentially poison their types with any.

This is a dilemma. 🤔
Although adding @ts-ignore to all peer dependencies' import statements could suppress issues for users with "skipLibCheck: false", but it's not friendly to the library itself.
Supposing:

// @ts-ignore
import type { VercelKV, SomeTypo } from "@vercel/kv";
//                      ^~~~~~~~ TS should error, but it doesn't anymore

I guess one way to go about it would be to publish the drivers (that have peer dependencies) as individual packages (e.g. from a monorepo), each with it's own peer dependency.
This way you would only ever need to install those that you plan to use.
But of course this is a massive change.
