Having the same problem, was trying to change my default windows shell to bash using .hyper.js file.

After doing so, it keeps giving me this error and sometimes also getting crashed!

This works fine, though this is the default settings we get after intalling Hyper. I wanted to change the default shell to Bash instead of default Windows!

After doing so causing that issue :)

I encountered this error after adding a file path to my PATH user environment variable on Windows. Rapid Environment Editor warned me that the value of PATH is longer than 2047 characters, which is a limit that I think Windows had until Windows 7. The Microsoft article says issues disappear if you restart or log out, so I restarted my computer and Hyper started working again.
