Theme: I-Frame support and (M)JPEG Loading

1.7.0 Milestone

• Add support for fast forward and rewind by switching to and streaming #EXT-X-FRAME-STREAM-INF variants
• Add support for JPEG-style navigation with "mjpg" or "jpeg" #EXT-X-FRAME-STREAM-INF variants
• Spawn an i-frame only Hls instance from the primary player for displaying thumbnails in a second media element, or fullscreen scan by sharing the element between instances with transferMedia.

Theme: Low-Latency HLS Improvements

1.8.0 Milestone

Features:

• Support for the EXT-X-PRELOAD-HINT
  • Reduce Low-Latency HLS playback latency
• Fix playback past under-buffering gaps (reduce stalls and stall duration)
• Improve adaptation timing (reduce freeze frames from appends made behind the playhead)

Stretch goals:

• Crossing "incompatible" discontinuity boundaries (currently supported via browser SourceBuffer.changeType() where available), with more control over resetting MediaSource from a specific time or discontinuity.

• HLS Interstitials Support #5730
  • Interstitial playback can be enabled/disabled using config.enableInterstitialPlayback (Interstitials are still parsed with the program schedule available via hls.interstitialsManager)
  • Interstitial support can removed from the build and runtime respectively via compile time option __USE_INTERSTITIALS__ and by setting config option config.interstitialsController to null
  • Interstitial asset player instances are child instances of the primary player
  • Primary player may "share" a single media element and MediaSource with Interstitial players
• Improved support for DolbyVision profiles 8 and 10 with supplemental codecs parsing
• AES-256 and AES-256-CTR encryption methods
