This replaces the "Clear meaning" and "Simplified written content" guidelines in the document with a "Clear language" guideline.

Overlap Notes (Attention: Editors)

• This PR adds "Topic sentence" under "Clear language"; it is now removed from under Structure in Organization and Structure Jun 2025 #336
• 3 requirements in this PR overlap with the Supplemental Content guideline (under Help), and could supersede those requirements; TBD whether they remain under this guideline or move there (cc @rachaelbradley)
  • Numerical supplements
  • Unambiguous numerical formatting
  • Visual aids
• There is also strong correlation between Clear language and multiple requirements currently listed under Structure; we should pay attention to whether these all make it to Developing status for the next WD:
  • Section labels
  • Section length
  • Section purpose
  • White spacing
• There are currently 2 requirements listed in this PR that this subgroup was considering removing, and deferring to the Structure requirements above. We have left them in, in case editors want to review the overlap. Further information on the overlap is available in the pathway document.

  • Short blocks of text
• It may be worth thinking through the current ordering and structure of the overall document to ensure the related items above appear closer together?
