Citra mmj local coop offline using hotspot

I am looking for a way to setup a local coop offline for in the plane with my friend. Ive seen a youtube video where someone got it to work but it doesnt work for me.

i've tried following a guide online that said make a hotspot on one phone (samsung s24) and look for the wifi on the other device. then when connected go to citra mmj. create a room on one device and join on with the other (tried this both ways) but the only thing it says is room idle followed by cant connect.

ive tried to search for a fix but havent found any.
