following example - modal doesnt seem to be working?

so i have followed the installation and created/followed an Edit User modal.
when i click on the button i can see something happening as my window is no longer scrollable.. but i dont see anything.

PHP Version ....................................................................................................... 8.4.5
Alpine "3.14.9"

i am just testing it on a NEW page, without any of my CSS/JS and i can see it puts the content of modal on the screen, but the modal is greyed out and not interactable?

i have noticed that i can use TABS to go to form fields, but not by using mouse

I have the same issue too. Backdrop seems to be on top of a modal content.
