When the program crashes unexpectedly, the entire system's internet becomes unresponsive (stuck on loading), but existing connections remain unaffected.

Is this working correctly?
The internet only works properly again after relaunching the program.

Thanks for the details. A crash by itself shouldn’t cause a network lock — when the app terminates unexpectedly, the system should release all its resources, including network network adapters.

However, if the app hangs rather than crashes (e.g. due to a deadlock or unresponsive thread), it can potentially block or interfere with certain network operations — especially if it’s controlling routing, proxying, or filtering traffic.

In your case, it sounds more like the app is hanging or leaving behind a stuck state that affects DNS resolution or traffic routing. Relaunching the program likely resets this state.

When I tried it and didn't Dispose() or cache program before Dispose()
It seemed like the whole network was stuck, not broken but not responding.

I'm thinking about creating a service to check whether the main program was stopped unexpectedly, so that it can call Dispose() and restore the network.
Should I do this, or is there a better approach you would recommend? Thank you.

I tested closing the program without calling Dispose(), and then tried pinging 1.1.1.1.

Even after 5 minutes, it still "Request timed out."

The Windows Packet Filter driver automatically resets if no processes keep it open. It can also be reset explicitly. However, when an application is active and a network interface is in filtering mode, a dedicated thread is required to read packets from the driver and reinject them into the network stack for proper network functionality.

I have the same problem. I think it is relevant and I would like someone to fix the program. During the Internet blocking in Russia it is very important because you have to proxy exe processes with games.

I’m experiencing a very similar issue as @kon3ko described. Interestingly, the problem occurs mainly when I try to proxy certain binaries—mostly IDEs like JetBrains PyCharm and Cursor (a VSCode fork). Launching these causes ProxiFyre to crash, resulting in a complete loss of network connectivity. Maybe it caused by multi-thread nature and rapid blast of the network activities of child processes (different plugins in IDE handshakes the servers and etc).

The logs repeatedly show "default network adapter has changed. Restart the filter engine." followed by "Failed to update WinpkFilter network interfaces," which points to an issue with the WinpkFilter driver failing to re-initialize after the network state changes.

There are still problems, If the program is killed, this will immediately prevent it from accessing the Internet.
I tested by right click process in Details(Task manager) then kill process tree
