1. set build command as astro build
2. set publish directory as dist

perhaps add a image like this :

If not configured as above, netlify fails to load the deployed app/website

Hi! Thank you for letting us know that this didn't work for you!

We actually don't document this in the tutorial because Netlify should already identify and prefill the appropriate configuration for you with most Astro sites, including our templates.

I think before we consider this a docs issue, I'd want to explore Netlify not automatically recognizing and using the correct settings in the first place.

So, I'm happy for people to experiment by:

• creating a new Astro project with our "Empty/minimal" template (as requested by the tutorial), and others just for fun!
• storing it on GitHub
• Adding the GitHub repo as a new project on Netlify and reporting back what defaults you are given so we can see if there are problems with Netlify correctly identifying Astro sites and providing the proper values here.

Will also note: it does make sense to have this info somewhere in docs, if we don't already. But it feels like the Netlify deploy guide is the place for that. (With perhaps a link in the tutorial to that page, as a "troubleshooting/if you run into trouble" resource.)

But first, I'd like to explore why the defaults aren't working before we consider any update to docs to see what we discover, and so we can better describe what might happen in docs, if changes are needed!

So, adding help wanted for the experiment, but not yet for any docs PRs!!
