Describe the feature
I was about to suggest this feature but saw someone had already commented it in a closed issue, so I wanted to bring it out into its own separate feature request. Nova and Xcode both have this feature and it's so much better than a chevron from a UX perspective. It's a much larger target to click, much clearer visually, and just more fun too!

Hi! I would like to share a few screenshots of the way that XCode (my main editor as I develop for iOS) handles visual code folding. They call it the "code ribbon" IIRC. Sorry in advance for how long this post is, I have a lot of screenshots :)
Default (open, nothing folded):
Hover (mouse is over ribbon section, nothing folded):
Folded (I clicked on a ribbon region, only that region is folded):
Nothing special happens when I hover over a folded section.
Sorry about the low quality images, I guess that is just screenshots for you. If you would like any more images, gifs of the animations they use, etc., I would be happy to help. I also have exact measurements for how wide the ribbon is, how much curvature they use, etc. if you would like them.
I am not expecting (or really even hoping for) an exact copy of this system, but I really do like the "code ribbon" and find it very intuitive.
If applicable, add mockups / screenshots to help present your vision of the feature
