🙏 Thanks for not getting rid of "text threads"! #30159

I love the text threads too! I was sad when agent came out and worked similar to everything else, but happy text threads still exist. I just wish there was an easy way to diff and apply based on changes suggested in the text thread. At some point in the past this was in beta but now it seems like it was just replaced with the full agent mode? |

I'm new to Zed and never used text threads, but it seems like the best system I've seen so far. (especially the composable prompt library!). But I get a feeling it's now on life-support and wont be developed further. It does not seem wise to invest time in learning and using it as new user. Can someone from Zed clarify the future plan with text threads? |

I'd like to follow this discussion as well because I've been trying Zed on and off strictly because of how great the Text Thread feels while working with LLMs. Would love to know what's on the roadmap for it. |

Im new to Zed but the text threads are one of my favorite features. Its so amazing to interact with a model like that. I cant seem however figure out hot to copy anything out of a text thread and get it into a buffer. But thats probably me the newbie :) |

Just wanted to say "thank you!" to the Zed team for keeping the text thread interactions feature that you guys had after adding the new Agent-based threads:
I really really like the plain-text thing you guys had/have going on with that. It makes it so much more ergonomic to work with the LLMs, and it can do stuff that the new UI cannot.
For example, I have many important prompts saved that I invoke with the
/prompt
command that are designed to be edited and filled in. Can't do this with the new agent UI.So I will continue to stick with the original text-based threads for a lot of my workflow as it's indispensable and appreciate that you guys have kept it around.
It would also be interesting to see if there were some way to integrate the agent-based workflow into the text-based UI.... wonder if you guys considered that.
