I'm facing same issue. Even though i have pro plan, zed's provided ai features are literally unusable. At first i've been hitting annoying rate limits and had to wait a minute and hit retry, but then i've exceed some secondary limit and wasn't able to use the ai for long time. And all of that because of opus tool calls |

Zed's individual request/token rate limits seem relatively permissive and reset frequently. I'm curious what sort of chats are triggering this behavior? @cbrunnkvist What you're seeing is Gemini-CLI which is Google rate limiting, not Zed.dev as the original posters are reporting. Asking the model "What is this rate limit concerning" is not going to yield the answer you seek (that isn't how these things work, the model has no access to failed request context and even if it did it isn't trained on the API-level error messages and dynamic rate-limiting. I am testing Zed Pro Trial and playing around with it let it basically create whole App Deployments for my homelab Talos cluster and run into it pretty fast. |

I got this error too, even tho I paid my bill again (1 day after paying the pro plan) and received email confirmation, restarted Zed App, I still receive the following with all different languages: #permission error with Zed's API: Token-based spending limit reached. Increase your limit for more requests.# |

Summary
Sometimes when the AI is churning away, I'll get the message "Zed's API rate limit exceeded".
Description
Sometimes when the AI is churning away, I'll get the message "Zed's API rate limit exceeded". This message is annoying because I'm not making the requests, I can't do anything to limit the number of requests, nor does it give me any actionable steps to avoid hitting the API rate limit.
Steps to reproduce:
If Zed is talking to it's own API, it should know it's own rate limits and be able to throttle requests correctly.
Zed Version and System Specs
Zed: v0.199.10 (Zed)
OS: macOS 15.6.0
