Option to Preserve Comments During Formatting

Hi! First off, thank you for creating such a helpful tool — I really appreciate the formatting capabilities. However, I noticed that when I use the formatter, all of my inline (--) and block (/* */) comments are being removed from the SQL scripts.

I've looked through the settings but couldn't find any option to preserve comments during formatting. It would be great if the tool could retain developer comments, especially since they often contain important context or notes.

Is there a workaround, or is this something that could be supported in a future release?

Yeah, it bothers me as well. Unfortunately, the TSQLParser developed by Microsoft (SqlScriptDOM) removes comments when the code is reconstructed from the token stream.

Re-inserting comments afterward isn’t straightforward and likely won’t be reliable. That said, I’ll give it a shot when I have some time to experiment.
