Update protobuf version?

Is it still necessary to freeze the protobuf version?

I can't use descript-audio-codec with some other libraries because they require new protobuf versions.

Same issue here when trying to use this on Google Cloud Vertex Pipelines which wants kfp inside the Python environment.

Please update protobuf further!

in my setup it conflicts with grpcio and other packages

grpcio-status 1.70.0 requires protobuf<6.0dev,>=5.26.1, but you have protobuf 4.25.6 which is incompatible.
grpcio-tools 1.70.0 requires protobuf<6.0dev,>=5.26.1, but you have protobuf 4.25.6 which is incompatible.

Til this is fixed, use latentforge's fork: (https://github.com/latentforge/audiotools) , he commented out the dependency...
