Inquiry: Status of the Project and Outstanding Issues

Hi, I’m opening this issue as a general “State of the Project” report, because a number of essential features of emacs-jupyter are currently broken for many users, and the project hasn’t seen active maintenance in a while.

This is not a complaint — just a consolidation of real problems and a request for guidance on the intended future of the package.
