Safely replace /dev/sdX style names with stable identifiers?

Hello!

I have a pool that looks like this:

        storage     ONLINE       0     0     0
          raidz2-0  ONLINE       0     0     0
            sde     ONLINE       0     0     0
            sdd     ONLINE       0     0     0
            sda     ONLINE       0     0     0
            sdb     ONLINE       0     0     0
            sdc     ONLINE       0     0     0
            sdf     ONLINE       0     0     0

I didn't appreciate that sdX names can change sometimes based on various factors. Is there a safe way I can replace the sda, sdb, etc, references with the stable names that are given in /dev/disk/by-id?

I have another pool where the names have unfortunately changed, and zfs has gotten severely confused thinking that devices have faulted or become unavailable.
