[Bug]: UI: Selecting a tag and viewing commits fails

What happened?

What actually happened, including error codes if applies.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. select a tag in the UI
2. view commits
3. failure!

Expected behavior

Viewing a tag's commits should return the commit log leading up to the tagged commit
