Releases: ARM-DOE/arm-gcm-diagnostics
v4.0
This new release of the ARM-Diags extended to include the metrics and diagnostics on the land-atmosphere (L-A) coupling. Specifically, basic statistical metrics on the diurnal cycles of surface sensible and latent heat fluxes, planetary boundary layer (PBL) and lifting condensation level (LCL) currently available at the ARM Southern Great Plains (SGP) site have been added. The two-legged metrics evaluating the strength of L-A coupling by partitioning the impact of the land states on surface fluxes (the land leg) and from the impact of surface fluxes on the atmospheric states (the atmospheric leg) are also added. The inclusion of metrics on the L-A coupling enables quick evaluation of model simulated L-A coupling processes against the ARM ground-based observations.
v3.0
The ARM Data-oriented Metrics and Diagnostics Package for Climate Models (ARM-DIAGS) Verison 3:
with ARM_Viags_V3 aerosol-cloud interaction metrics implement.
Main features:
• Aerosol physical/chemical properties and CCN datasets measured at the ARM SGP and ENA sites have been quality controlled and processed. These datasets are implemented in the input of ARM-DIAGS-V3.
• The statistics metrics on the aerosol physicochemical properties and CCN number concentrations annual cycles.
• The process-oriented diagnostics metrics on the aerosol-to-CCN activation assessments at different supersaturation levels.
Other features:
• The CMIP6 model simulations are now the new default model reference in ARM-DIAGS-V3.
• ARM observation references extended to ENA and MAO sites with corresponding observations and model inputs.
• All ARM observation reprocessed & updated based on lastest value-added product data.
• The precipitation diurnal cycles are now added to the default output.
• New metrics of soil moisture at SGP and AOD at all sites.
• Season vertical CF and precipitation are extended to all four seasons.
• Input and output subfolders are now all site-dependent.
• Output HTML now fits the V3.
• Visualization modifications on the output figures.
• Minor fix on the python code terminal running indicators.
• Streamline the processes and modify all the source codes: detailed in src/XZ_src_development_log.txt
v2.0
This new release extended the diagnostics sets to be apply to multiple ARM fields sites beyond SGP. Convection onset statistics developed by the UCLA group has been implemented as the first set of process-oriented diagnostics. More CMIP5 data (CFMIP experiment) has been included in version 2 of the data package.
A light-weighted prototype of ARM diagnostics package
This is a light-weighted prototype of ARM diagnostics package. All data (models, obs) are available in csv format. Details are provided by attached README and technical report. A new version is under development that refactors this v0-alpha code.
