Summary

Due to scikit-image/scikit-image#2652 changes, using as_grey when calling skimage.io.imread at

img = skimage.img_as_float(skimage.io.imread(filename, as_grey=not color)).astype(np.float32)

causes the following error

TypeError: _open() got an unexpected keyword argument 'as_grey'*

Steps to reproduce

import caffe
caffe.io.load_image('./imgs/example.jpg')

Solution

use use_gray instead of use_grey

System configuration

  • Operating system: Ubuntu 18.04
  • Compiler: g++
  • CUDA version (if applicable): 9.2
  • Python version (if using pycaffe): 3.6
  • skimage.version : 0.16.2

Fixes the issue. Have to make changes in the installed packages, would be really helpful if this was merged.
