About The Pull Request

Warning: Soft Dependency on #12858

Nothing will break but this PR wont actually do what its supposed to do since bodies are keeping 2 body parts upon augmentation, which #12858 fixes.

During a recent round the IPC F.R.O.S.T. was de-brained.
The brain was found but the body wasn't.

I spent the rest of the round together with the roboticist and a Sentient Renault trying to get him a body.
It was impossible. We tried everything.

At some point the Roboticist decided to turn a humanized monkey into a full blown robot. Every part replaced.

Still the IPC brain couldn't be inserted into the Torso that's very much made for it.

We gave up, and he decided it would be best to be put inside a Mech.
However, this didn't sit right by me.

What this does

Now we can just fit an IPC brain on a Robotic Torso, if the body doesn't already have a brain that is.

This will not only give IPC brains a new experience they can roleplay with but also give them a way to get back in the round, should their body be lost.

It also lets Roboticists play Frankenstein a bit, which is always fun.

New Surgery

Identity Recalibration!
Which I wanted to call "Serial Number Something" but I thought Identity Recalibration would be more obvious to players.

This new surgery allows you to operate on a Robotic Torso, swipe and ID and change the Body's name to match the name on the ID.

This will allow the IPC's to feel at home in their new body!

Also, obviously, if you get an ID called "Dumbie Dumbo" you can rename any poor fellow to that as long as they have a robotic torso, but... you know, there are rules in place!

Also... if the ID card has no name however.... You doom them to being basically an SCP.

Challenges

I am aware that, technically, the race doesn't change on augmentation, however, I don't think this is a bad thing.

I like the idea of a cyborg body with a robotic mind.

And maybe this could be better implemented, this change is extremely simple, but I plan to do more regarding this.

Of course the renaming could be, potentially used for trolling, but I doubt anyone that would do that kind of thing will already get banned for other worse and more obvious reasons. (Also the surgery can be self preformed)

What this could lead to

2 Things I want to do:

1 - Adding an Operation to the robotic torso that lets one swipe an ID to change the name of the body (Identity Recalibration)

This could be used for IPCs that were revived trough this method or changed into a cyborg body to keep their identity, further nailing that "Half man half machine with a machine mind" vibe.

But it could also be used in silly things. Which is fun!

THIS IS ALREADY INCLUDED IN THIS PR

2 - Eventually turning Positronic brains into regular brains like IPC brains and not a type of MMI

Yeah, Posi brains are actually MMIs. Which only makes them good for 3 things: Borg, AI or Mech.

We have a lot of ways to get in a round now like plant people, this would be another. If the brain wants to be a regular "person" why not allow them to?

THIS IS NOT PLANED FOR THIS PR

Why It's Good For The Game

More player freedom and power of choice!

New way for IPCs to get back into the game after debraining!

Cool roleplay opportunities!

The typo has been corrected

Changelog

🆑
tweak: IPC brains now fit inside Robotic Torsos
tweak: A warning message will appear when attempting to fit an IPC brain inside a body which already has a brain (even if elsewhere)
add: A new surgery called Identity Recalibration can be preformed on robotic torsos! (You'll need an ID)

Holy moly we're one step closer to being able to revive gibbed/exploded IPC's and make roboticists build them from scratch!!! (This was talked quite a bit as an addition to robotics content)

I thought making roboticists able to build IPC parts but I figured they already can make these robotic parts so might as well use them. Next step would probably be that!

Literally the only two ways to get a fresh IPC for a gibbed fellow involve xenobio, requiring A: Mutation toxin or B: Using a certain extract to clone a spare chassis. This is 100% a good change.

Im happy you feel that way!
I was unsure if it would be accepted so I left the conflicts unresolved. I'll fix them later today then!
