This pull request enhances the plotting and spectral analysis capabilities in post_processing/ci_plots.jl, with a focus on improving spectrum computation, plot generation, and code clarity. The major changes include the addition of a new function for computing 1D Cartesian spectra, improved handling of variable metadata, and a refactor of the plotting logic to support more variable types and spectrum plots.

Spectrum computation improvements:

  • Added a new function compute_average_cartesian_spectrum_1d to compute and plot 1D averaged spectra along a spatial dimension using FFT, including proper handling of metadata and units.
  • formatting updates
