Grafeas with a dockerized DBoM backend. Running this project will create a grafeas API server at the specified port utilizing an existing DBoM API Gateway instance as the storage.
Grafeas ("scribe" in Greek) is an open-source artifact metadata API that provides a uniform way to audit and govern your software supply chain. Grafeas defines an API spec for managing metadata about software resources, such as container images, Virtual Machine (VM) images, JAR files, and scripts. You can use Grafeas to define and aggregate information about your project's components. Grafeas provides organizations with a central source of truth for tracking and enforcing policies across an ever growing set of software development teams and pipelines. Build, auditing, and compliance tools can use the Grafeas API to store, query, and retrieve comprehensive metadata on software components of all kinds.

In terms of DBoM Channel Support, the following configurations are supported
- Single Channel
- Single Channel Read Only
- Single Channel Read, Single Channel Write
- Multi Channel
- Multi Channel Read Only
- Ability to access Notes & Occurences across channels & providers
- Can be implemented with existing APIs on the DBoM and Grafeas End.
- A more flexible implementation can be created if the Grafeas API can be amended with ability to send metadata to the underlying storage implementation (used to specify a set of channels to read from)
- Multi Channel Read, Single Channel Write
- Similar to the previous configuration, but with the ability to also write on a preconfigured channel
- Similar implementation characteristics to the previous configuration
- Multi Channel Read, Multi Channel Write
- Ability to read and write to multiple channels
- Needs amendment to the Grafeas API surface to allow metadata to besent to the underlying storage implementation (to specify which channel to write to)
- Multi Channel Read Only
If you don't already have a DBoM node running, you can set up a minimal node using the instructions in the deployments repository.
You will also need docker & docker-compose to run the quickstart.
Configure the appropriate endpoint in docker-config.yaml and start the service using docker-compose up
