Structure of the Harmonized Model
This page describes the structure of the Harmonized Model. The described structure shall also be used for new standard projects.
See also the ISO/TC211 Wiki on best practices for modelling geographic information in UML for articles describing best practices for modelling geographic information in UML
The Harmonized Model is organized with three main packages: "ISO TC211", "OGC" and "Other ISO Standards".
Each standard has a main subpackage under the main package "ISO TC211". Within each of these subpackages, there is one package for each part and edition of the standard.
The standards main packages are and shall always be named with a specific structure:
ISO [standard number] [Main standard name] e.g. "ISO 19110 Methodology for feature cataloguing"
Each standard part/edition package are and shall always be named with a specific structure:
ISO [standard number]-[part number] Edition [Edition number] - e.g. "ISO 19110 Edition 2" or "ISO 19115-1 Edition 1"
Each package has additional tagged values to help identify the individual standard, part and edition: Package tagged values
ISO/TC211 models shall be modelled according to ISO/TC211 Best Practices for modelling geographic information in UML.
