Structure of the Harmonized Model

This page describes the structure of the Harmonized Model. The described structure shall also be used for new standard projects.

Main package structure

The Harmonized Model is organized with three main packages: "ISO TC211", "OGC" and "Other ISO Standards".

Standards packages structure

Each standard has a main subpackage under the main package "ISO TC211". Within each of these subpackages, there is one package for each part and edition of the standard.

The standards main packages are and shall always be named with a specific structure:

ISO [standard number] [Main standard name] e.g. "ISO 19110 Methodology for feature cataloguing"

Each standard part/edition package are and shall always be named with a specific structure:

ISO [standard number]-[part number] Edition [Edition number] - e.g. "ISO 19110 Edition 2" or "ISO 19115-1 Edition 1"

Tagged values

Each package has additional tagged values to help identify the individual standard, part and edition: Package tagged values

Modelling

ISO/TC211 models shall be modelled according to ISO/TC211 Best Practices for modelling geographic information in UML.
