I volunteer as a Maintainer with the open source project, The Odin Project (Proof). As a Maintainer, I work with my fellow staff to help maintain a welcoming, safe, and positive learning environment on a server with over 90,000 members and over 1 million website signups. I genuinely enjoy helping learners develop their problem-solving skills by asking questions and at times guiding them. I cannot speak highly enough about the team, and the community. I have yet to come across anything else like it.
I am pivoting from my first act, in which I took on leadership roles in Quick Service, Human Services, Customer Service, and Technical Support fields. I leveraged my Business degree and drive to succeed to achieve success in every role that I took on.
When I need to step away from the computer, you'll often find me helping my amazing wife with home-improvement projects around our 200+ year old brick home, or out on the river kayaking with my family and friends. I can't wait to get back to my 3D printing and home automation obsessions, which have had to be put on the back burner to make the space & time for this pivot. But, I do see an animal feeder with facial recognition in my future.
