Like other programs that are using online services, OSM Scout sends some sort of information to the servers. We as OSM Scout developers promise that application will not send your location or other sensitive data until it is not necessary from the service nature.

Servers can log every your request and use cookies to track requests from unique device (and majority of providers do that for collecting statistics and prevent abuses). Beyond cookies, application is sending User-Agent header that identify application name and version.

So, keep in mind that:

  • Online map providers can identify requests from unique device and log what places you are seeing (what map tiles you are downloading).
  • Offline map providers can identify requests from unique device, log your language used on device (it is required for localise map list) and log maps that you are downloading.
