RG350 firmware "Rogue" edition

An independent fork of the OpenDingux project, focused on improving the user experience.

Thanks to Tonyjin for toolchain (https://github.com/tonyjih). Special Thanks to Pcercuei (https://github.com/pcercuei), Mthuurne (https://github.com/mthuurne) and OpenDingux (https://github.com/OpenDingux) for the original code base system.

instrucciones en español más abajo.

Goals:

  • exFAT support, auto-resize internal sdcard, constant sdcard mount point, show version - 1.7.5 branch
  • Add Esoteric as an optional launcher - 1.7.9 branch
  • Kernel update and Suspend capability - 2.x branch
  • Modernize 3D APIs - 2.1.x
  • HDMI support - 2.2.x

INSTALLATION

If it is the first time you install the ROGUE CFW, please do not update from STOCK or another base system, use the sd_image.bin and burned in a new microsd (recommended a 16Gb of good speed), because if you can not have system failures.

If you need to update your ROGUE CFW, then use the update .opk packages.

COMPILATION

first check that your linux system has the packages installed:

bison flex gettext texinfo wget cpio python unzip mercurial subversion libncurses5-dev libc6-dev-i386 bzr libssl-dev g ++ - multilib rsync java-wrappers mtools gcj-4.9-jdk

clone the repository with the command:

git clone --recursive https://github.com/Ninoh-FOX/toolchain

If you don't have the GCW0 build environment installed on your system there are two steps.

if you have debian 9, just download the binarion package at:

https://github.com/Ninoh-FOX/toolchain/releases

and extract this in /opt/gcw0-toolchain

If you have a different Linux distribution, run the rebuild.sh script that is inside the toolchain folder to create the correct / opt / gcw0-toolchain for your system.

Once all this is configured, the steps to compile the system are:

for RG350M

: ~/toolchain$ make rg350m_defconfig : ~/toolchain$ make -f Makefile.rg350m -j4

for RG350

: ~/toolchain$ make rg350_defconfig : ~/toolchain$ make -j4

When the whole process is finished you can create the installation packages or the sd_imagen.bin with the following commands:

for RG350M

: ~/toolchain/updaters$ ./create_kernel_rg350m.sh (this creates a kernel update package)

: ~/toolchain/updaters$ ./create_updater_rg350m.sh (this creates a complete system update package)

: ~/toolchain/updaters/imager_rg350m$ sudo ./create_sdimage.sh (this creates the sd_image.bin file)

for RG350

: ~/toolchain/updaters$ ./create_kernel_rg350.sh (this creates a kernel update package)

: ~/toolchain/updaters$ ./create_updater_rg350.sh (this creates a complete system update package)

: ~/toolchain/updaters/imager_rg350$ sudo ./create_sdimage.sh (this creates the sd_image.bin file)

: ~/toolchain/updaters$ ./create_flashe.sh (this creates a flasher internal sdcard install package with the file sd_image.bin from previeus step)

Instructions:

NOTE: If is your first time installing this CFW, the file to use is sd_image.bin or flasher opk, afterwards you can use always use opk update files for future releases. Using the sd_image.bin or flasher opk erases all data on the sdcard!! If you're updating from another CFW you may want to make a backup of the folders local/home and local/app first to preserve emulators/apps, their settings, and your game saves. (It is recommended to always make backups!)

Instructions for updating from an OPK update file (No need to open the console):

  1. Place the update .opk file in /media/data/apps or /media/sdcard/apps.
  2. Run the .opk from GMENU2X.
  3. Allow the process to complete.
  4. Reboot.
  5. If the system fails to boot, press Y to boot to the last working kernel, or X to boot to the last working rootfs. X+Y will load your previous OS version.

Instructions for a clean update / fix internal sdcard:

NOTE: This method erases the microSD, so backup of all your files beforehand as mentioned above.

  1. Place the flasher .opk file in /media/sdcard/apps.
  2. Run the .opk from GMENU2X.
  3. Allow the process to complete.
  4. Reboot.

Instructions when changing the internal sdcard, i.e. using a bigger/new sdcard:

NOTE: This method erases the microsd, so backup of all your files beforehand as mentioned above.

  1. Download the base system "sd_image.bin" from the Releases page.

for Windows:

  1. Format the new sdcard / internal sdcard with SD FORMATTER 5.0.1 ( https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/ ) two times.
  2. Download Win32 disk imager ( https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/ ) and flash (write) the FW base image to the sdcard. If Win32 Disk Imager didn't work, you can try Etcher ( https://www.balena.io/etcher/ ).

4. DO NOT RESIZE THE EXT4 PARTITION IN WINDOWS OR LINUX!!
Just put the sdcard inside the console and follow the on-screen instructions.

for Linux:

  1. Format the new SD card / internel SD card with gnome-disk-utility.

  2. Flash the FW base image in the SD card with gnome-disk-utility. Or type in a terminal:

sudo dd if=sd_image.bin of=/dev/[SD card mount point]

4. Do not resize the partitions!! Just put the internal SD card inside the console and follow the on-screen instructions.

Intructions for recovery or external update:

Thanks to gcwnow's wiki (https://github.com/gcwnow).

This works for GMENUNX.

You can copy the kernel or rootfs to the internal SD card of the RG350 using FTP, SFTP or SCP. I recommend SCP since it is just one line on the command prompt. It does require setting up SSH keypair authentication beforehand though.

for the kernel

scp vmlinuz.bin [email protected]:/media/system/
scp modules.squashfs [email protected]:/media/system/update_m.bin

for the rootfs

scp rootfs.squashfs [email protected]:/media/system/update_r.bin

Reboot the RG350 to activate the new kernel or rootfs. Don't use the reset button as part of the kernel or of the rootfs may not have been flushed from the write cache yet.

You can use:

ssh [email protected] RG350:media/data/local/home# reboot

Instrucciones:

scp vmlinuz.bin [email protected]:/media/system/
scp modules.squashfs [email protected]:/media/system/update_m.bin

para rootfs

scp rootfs.squashfs [email protected]:/media/system/update_r.bin

ssh [email protected] RG350:media/data/local/home# reboot
