The Ultramarine HTPC pack is an additional addon to a standard Ultramarine Linux installation.
HTPC mode transforms Ultramarine into a living room or handheld-friendly experience, allowing the user to switch to a ten-foot compatible graphical shell like Steam Big Picture, allowing the system to be easily used on a Home Theater PC or a handheld Ultra-Mobile PC.
The key difference from Bazzite is that the system is user-managed and an addon to a standard Ultramarine installation, meaning we need to account for all the variables and configurations that a user might have in their environment including but not limited to:
- User-installed packages
- Display Managers
- Desktop Environments
- System mutability
If you would like a fully-managed OTA-like experience, please consider using Bazzite instead.
Note
Unless you're hacking on these scripts, the best way to install this is through the Ultramarine tweak option
This will install the metapackage and set up the environment for you.
um tweaks enable ultramarine-htpc
Run make install
to copy the scripts to the appropriate directories, then use
alternatives
