Getting paid is already acknowledged. But some developers do get paid and others don't. So isn't the existing wording of "may" more accurate?

"May be incentivized by developer sponsorships." is ambiguous. Does it mean "Sponsorship relations might come with strings attached" or does it mean "The developer in question might get or aspire to get money from sponsors with an agenda". Of course, where developers reject all financing this line would not apply but I think it's a reality that most contributors at the very least would appreciate if they got some financial acknowledgement for their work and some might stop contributing if these aspirations went unmet for years even if the donations in question were inconsequential to their net worth. In so far, Sponsorships and donations are an incentive for almost all contributors even if they currently do not receive any.
