runfox.py

Overview

runfox.py is a Python script designed to facilitate launching Mozilla Firefox with specific profiles from the command line. Firefox -P does this as well however runfox presents profiles as a sorted list which isn't the default behavior for firefox Profile Manager.

Usage

Basic Usage

python3 runfox.py -d /path/to/firefox/profiles -p my_profile

    -d or --directory: Path to the directory containing Firefox profiles.
    -p or --profile: Name of the profile to launch.
    -x or --xwidth: width of the Zenity window
    -y or --yheight: height of the Zenity window

Interactive Mode

If a path is not specified, the default home directory of the user is used to build a patch to ./mozilla/firefox

python3 runfox.py

The size of the Zenity window can be specified using -x and -y for easier viewing:

python3 runfox.py -x 300 -y 600

If the profile is not specified, the script will show an interactive list of available profiles. An alternate path to the profiles can be specified too:

python3 runfox.py -d /path/to/firefox/profiles

Users can select a profile from the list, and the script will launch Firefox with the chosen profile.

Example

python3 runfox.py -d /home/user/.mozilla/firefox -p default

This example launches Firefox with the "default" profile from the specified directory.

Notes

Ensure that the provided directory path (-d option) is valid and contains Firefox profiles.
