Not required for the September 6 release. Let us pull in these changes later after we have reviewed them. There are some merge issues. |

Set Java-17 as the JRE to use
Edited to remove warnings about raw types, unused private or local declarations, unused imports
Still have warnings for runtime type conversions (from reading data files), discouraged API use, deprecated methods, maven warnings.
