Managing content via Siteleaf

Nate Smith edited this page Jun 14, 2018 · 3 revisions

Siteleaf is a content management wrapper on top of Github. We will use it as a primary tool for managing content of the site. Content can be managed directly through Github if preferred. It is connected directly to our Github account and allows us to manage three types of users: Admin, Publisher, and Writer.

Admins have full access and see all files (similar to the view you would see on Github.com). Publishers can create pages, posts, and make draft content visible (published). Writers can create pages and posts, but they are only hidden or in draft mode.

The Communications Working Group will work on a workflow that is streamlined and allows anyone in the HOT community to continue to publish blog posts, create projects, or add any other content on the site.

Logging in:

Go to https://manage.siteleaf.com. If you haven't registered or logged into Siteleaf before, follow these instructions first.

Once logged in, you’ll see a view like this:

After entering the site, you'll see a view like this:

How the site is organized:

  1. Collections of content
  2. Pages

1. Editing collections: News Posts

One type of collection is blog posts, called News Posts.

When you click on a collection, you’ll be taken to a view that shows the content within that collection. So for News Posts, each document is a blog post.

Within each blog post, you have a number of views both of the content of the post, but also settings.

First view: Content editor

You can view in Markdown or Visual Editor mode.

Settings views: right side bar and metadata below the blog post.

On the right are options to Save, create tags and set the date of the post.

Below the post is extra metadata. For example, the feature image (large image at the top of the blog post) is a field for you to upload an image. You can also set the author.

2. Editing Pages: What We Do page

The What We Do page is an example of an individual page with content about what is HOT.
