Welcome to the ofPooks wiki!

This page provides information on how to use ofPooks (aka Pooks), a minimalist vj performance instrument. See http://youtu.be/5SbQiPI45Tw for a demo.

You can download ofPooks here: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/ofpooks/ofPooks_v0.72alpha.dmg .

things you can do with ofPooks

customizing samples

ofPooks comes with one pre-packaged sample. If you'd like to use your own, create a folder called "Pooks" (with capital P) in the Movies folder of your home directory. Now, move up to 26 video samples into the folder. Use the keyboard shortcuts to change selected sample.

changing sample playing in a screen

You can change the sample playing on a specific screen by hitting letter keys q, w, e, r, ..., b, n, m to access your samples in alphabetical order.

changing screen projections

Hitting digit keys 1 through 6 you can toggle the screen projection editor. In this editor, you can move the corners of the selected screen to make projections that fit nicely into the performance space. This way, you can create the illusion of having up to six screens using a single projector. Note that screen 6 is in front of screen 5 etc.

even more things you can do

ofPooks also has a midi interface. This midi interface is specifically built for factory settings of the Korg nanoKontrol. The midi interfaces exposes features such as alpha blending, (dynamic) layouts, multiple layers per screen, image filters, and sample playback rate control.
