In order to enjoy of a good sync, you'll need to determine 2 different factors that will affect your gameplay:
- Global Offset - Used to compensate for drawing time, the time it takes for the processor to draw the game screen
- Input Offset - Used to compensate for input delay related to the time it takes for the device to register an input.
- Go to
Settings>Timing Settingsand set both offsets to 0ms - Go to
Settings>Volume Settingsand enable hit sounds, reduce the volume of the song to about 75 and set the feedback volume to 100 - Save and Return.
-
Play> select any beatmap you usually play - Tap the screen and let the notes start popping.
- Listen to the song vs the hint sounds.
- If the hint sounds are coming out late, you need to compensate with NEGATIVE offset.
- Go back to the
Settings>Timing Settingsand update the Global Offset (If negative offset is needed, move the slider to the left side, right otherwise) until you find the equilibrium point. - Save and Return
- Repeat 4-9 until you find the spot
- Play a song (It is recommended to play a full song)
- In the results screen, check the
Accuracy Rangebounds and the Avg. Accuracy and find the center spot.
- For example I had -30.42ms to 20.03ms with an average accuracy of -3.11ms. The center would be at -5ms about and after adding my average accuracy, the value would be the center between those 2 values. In this case, I'd compensate it with 4ms. of POSITIVE offset.
- Go to
Settings>Timing Settingsand update the Input offset by the amount required to turn the center into 0. - Save and Return
- Repeat 12-15 until you find the sweet spot
In general, one shouldn't need to change the input offset unless their device is old or unresponsive.
The sweet spot is easy to identify: (the following values are visible in the results screen)
- Your average accuracy should be close to 0.
- In average, you have more perfects and less goods/bads
- Your unstable rating should get lower and lower
