Description
This PR fixes a crash that I inadvertently introduced when adding support for light sensors on Linux.

#17208 is the PR that introduced this crash.
#16188 is being held up by the aforementioned crash bug. The affected code does not conflict with that PR, so this won't create any new merge conflicts.
