  • Removed the "Immediate" vs "Retained" mode split. (It's more an implementation detail)
  • Promoted Slint to main recommendations: It's stable, complete, and production-ready. Updated its description for clarity and accuracy.
  • Moved floem and freya to "see_also" (less widely used).
  • Removed unmaintained or experimental frameworks. We need to make some sort of selection in blessed.rs
  • Also removed GPUI: It's not on even crates.io, not really fit for general-purpose use.

Recent downloads:

  • egui: 2.1M
  • slint: 72k
  • floem: 1.8k
  • freya: 4.9k
  • iced: 114k
  • xilem: 860

I agree that it makes sense to bump slint up after iced, and bumping down floem and freya. IMO xilem and gpui should stay; both are interesting developments from recognized teams.

(Would have been nice if you'd explicitly mentioned that you're a Slint co-founder.)

Collapsing the sections, and bumping Slint up seems fine. I'm also fine with bumping Floem, Freya and Vizia down. I second that Xilem and GPUI ought to stay in the "see also" section. Both are notable because of their creators and are crates people should know about even if we can't recommend their use. KAS could probably go if we're removing lesser-known frameworks.

Ok, I put back Xilem and GPUI.
