I'm gonna hold off on this for a while.
It looks like there are some bugs with that PR that some people are reporting and there might be some other changes to the internal workings for the filename_first path_display option, particularly with how it interacts with entry_display.

yes, this feature is un stable, but it's cool and very useful. if telescope group public a stable version, i will message you.

I'm doing some refactors in telescope core that will make this much easier to implement in this plugin.

telescope core refactor: nvim-telescope/telescope.nvim#3200
implementing the change for this plugin: #397

this will make this PR redundant.
